I'm currently submitting this on January 2 instead of January 3, but because I'll be busy tomorrow, you get day three early.
For day three, I decided to finally do a sketch of Miku Hatsune. I've been wanting to do a painting of her for a while, but it didn't work out till now. Originally, I wanted to draw Kaito for day three, but the Kaito painting was taking longer than I planned to color so I painted Miku instead. Hopefully he'll be day four or five. (You'll get to see him eventually. Just be patient.)
This is the first time I used the paint brush tool in Gimp to do the line art. I usually do the line art with the ink tool because it behaves more like a mechanical pencil (my favorite drawing tool). Since this challenge is to improve my art skills, I wanted to try to use the paint brush for the line art only... and I really like how it turned out!
The only time I used the ink tool in this painting was for her lips because I knew it would cover the area I wanted it to in the way I wanted it to. The rest was colored with the fill bucket and shaded with the airbrush tool.
Vocaloid belong to their rightful owners. Art work by me. Drawn in Gimp with a Bamboo Wacom tablet.

I like this one! I think she looks very adorable and would appear on some of those Anime covers or even comic blogs that have been running around on the internet. You did a great job and I think besides her pigtails, my favorite is just the color scheme.
