2015 Christmas Tree Skirt

I don't know why I never got around to posting this! Oops!

I made a new Christmas tree skirt for 2015. Usually I use one my mom made years ago, but I wanted to make one for myself and let my mom and dad use the one my mom made.

The skirt is made using copper pin tucked taffeta, black cotton with gold glitter on it, gold glitter trim, white organza ribbon, and black broadcloth cotton for the backing. I got the copper taffeta while trying to find fabric for my Elizabeth i dress. It was the wrong shade of gold (more brown than yellow) so I couldn't use it. I ended up keeping the fabric instead of returning it because I liked it. When I made the Christmas tree skirt, I thought it would be a good fashion fabric to use for the main part of the skirt.

I'm happy with the skirt, but it turned out a little darker than I'd like it to be. It didn't look bad under the tree, in fact because it was dark colored it helped make the ornaments and lights stand out more. Yet, when it's by itself, it looks too dark to me. Still, I'm keeping it and hope to enjoy it for years to come!
